Another day, another Kanye West story.
This time, a video resurfaces online of Ye at a photoshoot in Los Angeles from 2018, where he was shooting with Korean-German photographer Heji Shin.
In the clip, you can see Kanye snapping after he was asked to pose like the late Elvis Presley.
Kanye responds, “I don’t want nothing that look like Elvis — he stole! I was talking to fake Elvis’s right now. Give me an African pose. Fuck I’ma do? I’m Ye, posing like fucking Elvis? Fuck is Elvis!”
His remarks regarding Elvis stealing references the allegations that the King of Rock & Roll oftentimes borrowed from Black music. Thankfully, you can see Ye laughing towards the end of the clip, insinuating it wasn’t all that serious.
He then jokes, “I get that exact feeling from that phone call in the photos.”
Shin actually opened up about this photoshoot in a conversation with Interview Magazine,stating she was “uncomfortable” during this exchange.
She states, “This was exactly the challenge Kanye and I had. He’s very aware of this dynamic between making images and being made into an image, and he felt uncomfortable being directed.”
