Speaking with The Source, G6reddot detailed his project, goals for the future and more.
Your project, Z6, is receiving a lot of attention and positive feedback. Can you tell us what inspired you to create this EP and what message you wanted to convey through it?
This release is about bringing my fans into the life of G6, giving them an inside scoop since I had less than ten songs out, leaving my fans curious about a lot. “Hard” was the lead single, and it was honestly vibes. The reaction has been amazing.
You’ve mentioned that your music reflects your life and experiences. How has your upbringing in South Florida influenced your sound and the themes in your music?
I grew up in church, and grandma woke me up early I played instruments growing up and taught piano drums a little bit of guitar, so I’ve always been super passionate about the music. It started in church tho. I loved football growing up. I was pretty fast. That’s how I got the name g6 fast, like a G6 jet plane.
Your fanbase is known for its passion and anticipation of your releases. How have you created such a dedicated community of supporters, and what do you think sets you apart from other artists?
My sound is unique, something you haven’t heard before. I’ve always had a hard time comparing myself to other artists. I’m pretty versatile in a lot of different ways. When I went #1 on Billboard for writing Cardi B “Up” – it was the first song I ever contributed to and just so happened to go number 1 in the world. It was a pretty big moment for anyone.
In addition to being a talented artist, you’re also an award-winning songwriter. Can you share more about your experience writing Cardi B’s hit song “Up” and how it felt to contribute to a song that reached No. 1 on Billboard?
It was a fantastic feeling for it to be the first song I ever contributed to. It makes me want to go harder for my other goals. I want to win XXL freshman list. I want to have a gold/platinum song of my own. I want to make millions, give all my friends jobs, and care for my family. No one in my family is rich. I want to be the first one.
Your music aims to shed light on the struggles and challenges people in your neighborhood face. What do you hope your listeners take away from your music, and how do you believe it can impact their understanding of the issues you address in your songs?
When fans listen to my music, I want them to take away the gems I drop about the everyday things I people from where I’m from go through the mental challenges the street shit so much that comes with overcoming the challenges in the ghetto those are the people I make music for.
