What do you get when you reimagine hip-hop with violin strings? You ‘get’ Clejan, a modern-day hip-hop violinist and rapper who has been carving out a unique niche in the world of music. By successfully blending his love for the violin and rap, Clejan is rapidly becoming known as the celebrated “Violin Guy.” This rising star is preparing to release his second solo studio album, On My Way, on August 22.

Born Zac Clejan, the multifaceted rapper found his niche as a ‘Trap Violinist,’ a unique concept that merges classical violin tunes with hard-hitting trap beats. Inspired by celebrated instrumentalist Lindsey Stirling, Clejan embarked on his journey after a brief hiatus from music to earn a marketing degree at The University of Georgia. But the Atlanta violinist could not resist his true calling. He returned to the music that resonated with his roots and connected with his soul. And his career took off.

Clejan’s music began to gain momentum with the release of his first EP, The Way That I Fiddle, in 2020. His cover of “Let’s Go” went viral on TikTok, acquiring over six million views. With more than 800,000 followers across his social media platforms, Clejan has also opened for hip-hop legends, including Snoop Dogg and Busta Rhymes.

The release of On My Way marks the next step in this underdog’s remarkable journey. As Clejan embarks on this new chapter, he remains grounded in his belief in enjoying the process and staying true to himself. “I’m in no rush to ‘get’ anywhere or ‘be’ anyone by a certain age. I’m on my way, and that’s what matters to me,” he asserts.

The album stands as a powerful expression of Clejan’s experiences and growth. As he turns 30, it epitomizes his defiance against ageism in the music world. In an industry in which shortcuts and temptations prevail, Clejan remains steadfast. “I’m not giving into the temptations of bot farms,” he declares, emphasizing his commitment to building an organic fanbase rather than a manufactured one.

Drawing parallels with artists such as NF, MGK, and Lizzo, who used her flute to set herself apart and go mainstream, as a rapper, Clejan uses his violin to break barriers and distinguish himself. He wants to give young instrumentalists the mainstream role model he never had growing up. “Having grown up with the classical strains of the violin since the age of three, I always wished I had more mainstream idols to look up to,” Clejan reveals.

What’s next for Clejan? A festival headline at the Southwest Flow Festival in Arizona and sharing the stage with the violin queen Lindsey Stirling in Washington. In addition, the now LA-based violinist rapper has the vision to take ‘Clejan’ beyond music, transforming it into an all-encompassing brand, including clothing, jewelry, and accessories catered toward orchestra and band kids.

Clejan is not just a musician. He’s a trendsetter, a path-breaker, and most importantly, he’s ‘on his way.’ As Clejan stands at the precipice of his bright future, one thing is certain: this is the perfect time to discover this talented rapper and musician. After all, there is something undeniably exciting about discovering a hidden gem like Clejan before he makes it big.
